Technology is a powerful tool, and is designed to help people in different ways. Such smart glasses may not only work in industry or commerce. They can help deaf people to engage in conversation.

Smart glasses can process audio stimuli and convert them into text. Today's AI already translates English "speech to text" quite commonly. Czech is a bit more complicated for AI, but we also have the first attempts to test and process speech-to-text translation.

In smart glasses, the deaf user will simply see spoken text directly on the display of the glasses. They don't have to look into a mobile phone or tablet, which technology can already process speech to text. He can respond smoothly to the information received while looking at his partner. He sees the text directly in the field of view.

Smart glasses can help students in schools whose disabilities make education very difficult. Understanding the spoken interpretation would help to understand and absorb the learning more quickly.

Smart glasses can also warn the deaf of danger. Loud tones such as a horn, siren or shout will alert and warn the user of the danger.

Unfortunately, none of the producers has yet started mass production, and probably the rather high price for the costumer may be a major problem so far.

Industry 4.0, or the Fourth Industrial Revolution, refers to the introduction of digitization, robotics and automation in manufacturing and other industrial enterprises.

But let's start from the beginning.

The first industrial revolution began sometime in the 18th century. The then, traditionally agricultural society, shifted from field work to mechanized agriculture, manufacturing, mining and transportation. There was a shift from manual production to large-scale production with the help of machines. The main source of energy was coal and steam.

Thanks to this industrial revolution, the living standards of the majority of the population have risen. There has been unprecedented population growth.

In virtual reality, you can meet important personalities of the past. Map how time went and how places gradually changed. You can take part in Napoleon Bonaparte's campaign or watch people ring the keys to Wenceslas Square during the Velvet Revolution.

People want to experience to remember better.

It is easy to read an article about interesting facts from history or science, but to experience the situation almost on your own, it will be etched in your memory much longer. Experience and understand. This is the concept of virtual reality.

There are already several museums and galleries in the Czech Republic that have included modern technologies in their program. For example, the Zlín Gallery used VR in its exhibition Reason vs Cit. In Olomouc, it is possible to walk around the medieval square, and Most is also preparing its own exhibitions.

Other possibilities of use in museums and galleries include augmented reality.

Thanks to a tablet or smartphone, you can now view various artifacts in 3D, view and explore them from all sides. Items that you can usually only see in the display case or in the picture will lie directly in front of you, just touch it. For a change, you can "run out" of additional information on the topic, or a 3D model of the author in all its beauty.

When using augmented reality, you may also encounter QR codes. They allow you to view video content, images, 3D model, voice recording and / or written text, to any exhibit, to any event. All you have to do is point a mobile phone or tablet, read the QR code and a boring tour can become an interactive fun educational activity.

In a time that is very demanding on the perception and attention of visitors, virtual and augmented reality is a new way to attract new, young visitors to museums and galleries. At the same time, it will attract those existing who are regular participants and museums or galleries are not unknown to them. Looking at history from a new angle, experiencing events, visiting distant places and time travel into history - these are activities that will soon be available in most modern museums.

VR Sickness - Myths and Truths

What is VR sickness and how is it really? ????

Yes - virtual reality "fooles" the brain. So yes - it can be annoying if you have none or little experience with it.

In virtual reality, you can move, fly, ride, run - but your body is actually in place. This can sometimes flood the brain a little.

In general, we may say:

???? Men tolerate staying in VR a little better than women.
???? Younger age groups are also closer to technology, so the younger the user, the better he gets used to VR. (We are talking about adult users).
???? The optimal time to use VR glasses is around 10 minutes, but even 20 minutes is no exception.
???? Usually, a person may be disoriented after taking off their glasses (similar to feeling blindfolded for 10 minutes) and may feel sick. However, nausea subsides the more glasses you use.
???? So, it's about making a habit.

Among the best accepted are various relaxation or training applications. Rather static, where you do not move too much with the controls. Learning, assembly, fulfillment of tasks, training of activities.

Also well-tolerated are applications where, for example, the user walks on a belt and the world moves around him as if he were really walking. Or they are smooth slow movements that do not burden the user.

The worst tolerated are active games, where there is a lot of movement and a lot of intense visual perceptions.
A good example is the roller coaster in VR. (But we can not tolerate it in the real world). ????

So to sum it up:

???? The more the VR environment resembles the real situation, the less it burdens us.
???? It is necessary to take a break from time to time.
???? And the more often you use VR, the more well you will accept it.
